My year in Art 2022

 As the year draws to a close it is time to post my traditional Year in Art review for 2022!

Despite everything I had a pretty nice year when it came to art, and it feels so weird to even say it, considering everything that's been going on. I got an adequate amount of PoA done, I got to go to a few live events finally, published the smol accordion book comic Taivaan pilarit, on top of which Mater Dei and Haltijabot 3 were both published this year! With all these publications I got accepted to the Booked 2022 book art exhibition! It was a really great experience, especially to see so many amazing pieces of book art. So inspiring I want to make like 30946987 new pieces of book art now xD

Here's hoping I get to start even one next year! I hope everyone has a very peaceful and nice end of the year, and that 2023 would finally be a better year for us all! thank you to everyone who has supported me this year!

Booked 2022!

 Oh no looks like I forgot to write about this last week, but my accordion book comic Sulka / Suomu got accepted to a group exhibition of book art at Kaapelitehdas, Helsinki! Starting Saturday this week! Here's a funny lil' video I took of their event poster video:

2022 Popularity Polls Results!

 

At long last here are the results of the 2022 Character popularity poll! Maive dominated vote again hogging up 35% of all the votes :D There was also a lot of single votes given this time around, so all who got a vote also got their special little party ^^ Thank you again for all the votes!

The charms almost didn’t make it in time, but I finally got them! And got to fulfill my dream of having Homer charms too x) The carpet knife is a new design ^^

Tiny lil' accordion book

Taivaan pilarit 1. aka. The Pillars of Heaven 1. is done and folded :D

This is a 12 page accordion book comic set in the same world as Paths of Avarnight, but separate enough that you don't need any prior knowledge of the story to read this!

The comic is black and white, texts in Finnish and English.

This will of course also be available at our table in Zine Fest next Saturday! Afterwards, I'll see if I can make it available internationally too ^^

I'm having a lot of issues with posting videos today, but here's pictures of the foil prints I got just in time for Zine Fest!

I'm so sorry this page is so late! I know my life is crazy busy normally, but this August has been on a level of its own with everything that I've had to do and go to x') I'm glad I made it though!

 I've apparently missed one entire post in this blog... Oh no, I'm sorry ::::(

Anyway! Only couple of weeks left until Zine fest! I'll have hopefully a lot of new stuff there, even a new tiny lil' zine if everything goes according to my devious keikakus! 

I'm also working on the next page of PoA and will try to post it before the end of the month xD Wish me luck!

Yay the second full page spread of Paths of Avarnight is finally done! I decided to put the whole, uncensored page here in my blog since Both Tapas and Webtoons don't support full page spreads and I am also antsy that the horrors of this page are too much for the restrictions of both those sites xD

 There will be a point in the comic where I probably have to move the rest of the story to here because it's gonna get gory and grim :D But not yet, fully at least!

 I'm also sorry that the page took this long, AND that the results of the popularity poll are still not in x'I That corona really pushed my summer off kilter, but I'm trying to get it done asap! My goal is to update the comic at least once per month, and when that's done, I can work on the extras.

And lastly! Me and my partner in crime rikkisu got a table from Zine Fest in September! I'm going to try to have something new for that table too, so look forward to that ^^

This is the most labour intensive page of all PoA I swear… AND it’s a two page spread xD forgive me for it being late, I am working on it, as much as con prep allows me to :”D but it will be worth the wait when it’s done, I hope.....

This is a critter I've not drawn since 2011 xD The design is also so different I'm sure anyone who knew the original would probably not recognise them... They're a part of the world of Paths either way ;>

Dawn of the Paths Extras

 At long last it is time for the very first Paths of Avarnight Extra! I am terribly sorry for the wait 😢  Year 2021 really was NOT my year, but looks like 2022 might be marginally better, at least I got this done xD

My smol exhibition is now open in Kallio library’s comics room! It’s going to be open until the end of April ^^

Lemme tell u, two cons and one exhibition set up is quite the workload for two weeks xD don’t try this at home kids...

Back home

 

I got back home at around 20.30 last night from Tampere kuplii and it was way too late to manage a thank you post, so here it comes just a little late! Thank you! I haven't had this much fun in ages! Thank you everyone who visited our table! It was lovely to see folks I've not seen in years (thanks corona) and also new people :D Hope to see everyone next year in Tampere kuplii, too ^^

Next up Kauhucon next weekend! And my exhibition starts too, going to be a busy week again :D ...sorry Homer :'((
