When a librarian has a day off finally...

 My June of elves continues with this piece I made of my cat-elf librarian Mizane having a day off from work as the head librarian and basically the sole worker of the Sudensurman solan sivukirjasto. He got so excited to have a stroll around the city with his new friend Severan (whose first meeting of Mizane is depicted in that other Mizane piece from a few years ago xD) he put on his best gear to show around town. And of course he gets distracted by books : D

I would love to make a real comic about these lovely cat-elves, but when will I have the time…

Also there was a Mizane fan visiting our table at Hypecon! If you see this let me thank you again! It just really made my whole year to learn that someone out there remembers Mizane from the previous pieces I have done! Thank you ;;0;;

In the Library

Aka. Day in the life of Severan the meat eater cat-elf aka. When your boss/ex forces you to return his books to the library.

This was supposed to be a self-indulgent little thing for my New Years, and, oh wow is it April already? xD

The golden haired one is Mizane the librarian, if anyone remembers him anymore. He's a cat elf too, so they can both bond over their tragic cat-elf childhoods after Severan is done paying Ananthe's library fines. Don't worry they actually do get along rather well after this first meeting.

Sigh I wish I'll one day have time to write&draw this story too, but I probably won't ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wip time!

Hey, I’m not entirely dead! Sometimes I sneak a little doodle-time from my schedule and do little sketches, like this rpg char of a friend I promised to draw like 17 years ago. Not done yet, but hopefully soon!
He is Galoz, a meat eater elf like Severan (who can be found elsewhere in my gallery) but he is no meat eater himself, instead he is what you’d call batshit crazy, but in a very adorable way. He is so much fun, when he is not causing grey hair to me the GM or somehow charming alll the girls in the entirety of the City :D

 I've been role-playing and doodling quite a lot during this summer! Here are some of the silly doodles I sketch while we've been playing~

 Upper left corner has my new Eldar Corsair character from a Rogue Trader campaign, Shiranui Chitaira. Beneath him is me brand new jackdaw bard-boy Kurama and his best pals Dr. Mlemmiwinks a doge cleric and Uss aka Lord Hissington, a yuan-ti fighter. The whole campaign is just a clusterfuck of tomfoolery and idiocy, and I love it to bits!

 Upper right corner has Marune from my comic, I'm trying redesign their face, for they have a set of horns on their head and I can't get them to work like I want to. Still, I think this is a pretty nice picture of them. And below is my hissymissy-Severan being the angry young man he is.

Severan and Ananthe

This was supposed to be just a sketch! I got a bit too excited.

 I think both Severan’s and Ananthe’s clothes are a bit too fancy in this, Severan is just a murder-hobo crawling in the dark & murk of the City and Ananthe, while much more regal is just a pretty well to do healer, not a king or anything… His favorite pastime is embroidery, though, so he’s decorated those robes himself. Severan’s favorite pastimes include getting on Ananthe’s nerves, eating people and making bad life choices.

Spring and Summer Annoucements

First of all, my seminar paper is done and submitted for reviewing! Yay! Now there’s like a week of fooling around before all that other shit I need to get done.

 So, I started drawing Severan and Ananthe, my two rather new characters from an original setting of mine. Severan is a young, brazen (read: stupid) and moody meat-eater elf , with a bit of cat in his blood. He is also a reiteration of my old Dark Heresy character, but way less like Kanda. Like totes.
 Ananthe (right in the picture) is far older and wiser, half and half of a regular elf and a meat-eater elf. He and Severan have a complicated relationship which has a lot of Ananthe being pretty fed up with Severan’s bullshit, like in this picture.

 Then, for the summer~ I will be attending several events this summer!

• I will try my wings at a new event, the Dark Market of Lumous Gothic Festival on the 15th of July in Tampere! There's no entrance fee to this event, so if you're in Tampere come say hi to me~
• Then there's of course the course on Manga I will be teaching in Joutseno straight after Lumous.
• I've also booked a table from Ropecon (28th-30th July, Helsinki) this year too, so you will find me in the dealers' den, again!
• Me and my partner in crime, Pihlajatar, also got a table from Creators' Alley in Worldcon 9th-13th of August

So far these are the confirmed events that I will be attending, I'll keep you posted about new ones as I confirm participation~

 Don't forget that next weekend I will be in the Comics festival of Stockholm! If you happen to be there, do come say hi ^^

AND, my exhibition is open until 17th of May, so five days left if you want to see it! Thank you all who have already visited the exhibition, I loved reading the guestbook when I popped in last week!

Tähtivaeltaja

 Some of you may know that I am old. Olde enough to have read Tähtivaeltaja back in the late nineties when I was a lonely old bag in the making in rural Finland, in times when the Internet was something new and expensive. I can say that reading this good old scifi-fantasy-horror-zine was one of the things keeping me sane in that very unsane environment. I’ve continued reading it ever since those backwards ancient times.

 AND for a few years now  I’ve had the pleasure of having my illustrations decorating the pages of Tähtivaeltaja, but now I made it to the cover! Somewhere a teenage me is screaming in delight.
 There’s no one more worthy of the honour of cover than the regal Ninavel. No one.
Tähtivaeltaja is a great magazine btw, you all should read it!  (Of course the mag is only in Finnish)

The Day After

As my comic work is winding down, I need to start worrying about graduating from University. I’m supposed to be doing research for my seminar work, but instead. Instead I started writing a short story about a meat eating nightcrawly elf having a serious case of blood orgy hangover. Whats-more I did a fucking painting of him, too :’D My thesis is so fucked.

 This is known as the Hangover of Severan, or in Finnish “Severanin darrapäivä”

pps. Some of you might've noticed that he shares a name with my former rpg-character. He is a spiritual descendant of my assassin-acolyte, but reimagined in the setting of the City of Cities, where meat eating elves roam, among other things

I was so busy with everything else after posting the picture of Ninavel, that I completely forgot I had taken a few wip shots of it in order to make a tine little gif of the painting process! So here we have it.
