So, get ready to see some comic originals in a few weeks time in the Kallio Library comics room! There will be no vernissage unfortunately since the space is pretty tiny and I don't want to bother the other customers

Avar’yön poluilla
Sarjakuvaoriginaalinäyttely 2.-29.4.2022
Avar’yön polut kertoo nuoren ja kunnianhimoisen naisen, Adalin, tutkimusmatkasta syrjäisille vuoristoseuduille, mistä hänen sukujuurensakin ovat. Tämä paikalliskulttuurin ja uskomusten keruuseen keskittyvä tutkimusmatka olisi juuri se saavutus, jonka avulla hän todistaisi kelpoisuutensa hakijana Haardenin yliopistoon. Matkan luonne muuttuu kuitenkin peruuttamattomasti, kun ikiaikaiset epäinhimilliset voimat alkavat liikehtiä hänen tutkimuskohteenaan olevassa laaksossa. Samaan aikaan mahdollisesti jossain todella syvällä laakson alla, tai kenties aivan toisessa ajassa, pimeyden verhoaman maan nuori prinssi kohtaa omat haasteensa, ja hänen kokemuksensa alkavat kietoutua Adalin omiin oudoilla tavoilla.
Tähän näyttelyyn on koottu Avar'yön polut-sarjakuvani originaaleja. Originaalit ovat tussipiirroksia, jotka on sitten maalattu tussilaveraauksin ja vesivärein kuumaprässätylle vesiväripaperille. Puhekuplat ja muut efektit lisään sarjakuvaan vasta jälkikäsittelyssä, joten ne jäävät näistä originaaleista uupumaan.

On the Paths of Avarnight
Exhibition of comic page originals 2.-29.4.2022
Paths of Avarnight is a dark fantasy webcomic with a generous dash of horror added to the mix. It tells the story of a young and ambitious lady, Adal, on an expedition to a remote mountain region from where her mother is also originally from. This expedition to record local culture & belief is an opportunity for her to prove her worthiness and be accepted into Haarden University, but the expedition soon warps into something much more dangerous as inhuman forces from beyond the veil of time begin to move in the valley, she is conducting her research in. At the same time, somewhere deep below the valley itself, or mayhaps in another time entirely, the experiences of a young princeling of a dark land entwine with those of Adal in strange ways.
A tiny selection of originals for my graphic novel Paths of Avarnight have been put on display in this exhibition. The originals are ink wash and watercolour paintings on hot pressed watercolour paper. Speech bubbles and other effects are added digitally and thus lack from the pages shown here.
Paths of Avarnight is a free to read webcomic currently being published in both Tapas and Webtoons.
